Rumsfeld Foundation Releases 2021 Annual Report

Washington, D.C. — The Rumsfeld Foundation is pleased to release its annual report outlining progress made across its key focus areas over the past year and important updates that will be guiding its direction in the year ahead. Read the full report here: 2021 Annual Report.

"2021 was a significant year for the Foundation. First and foremost, it included the loss of our visionary leader. As we enter the new year, while we continue to mourn Secretary Rumsfeld’s passing, we are also inspired to charge ahead with the same fervor and enthusiasm that he had for the Foundation’s work," reads the report’s welcoming message from Victoria Clarke, Board President. Reflecting on 2021, the Foundation is exceptionally grateful for the outpouring of support received from friends and partners, including the messages shared by those whose lives have been touched by Secretary Rumsfeld and the programs he developed.

“He was such a remarkable public servant and mentor for so many of us that it is difficult to capture the scope and sheer impact of his contributions to all of us, and to the entire nation. His lasting impact here and in so many other places will continue, as we carry that forward well into the future," shared an alumnus of the Foundation’s Graduate Fellowship program. The Foundation has been pleased to be able to contribute more than $17.2 million toward its partners and programs since its establishment since 2007. This funding has supported 215 Graduate Fellowships, 231 CAMCA Fellowships, dozens of Fellowship Network events and over 350 military charity grants.

Among the report’s important updates is a note on the Foundation’s recent transition, as of the close of 2021, to fully focus on further developing its two Fellowship Programs and their evolving alumni networks. With this sole focus on the Fellowships and their networks in the period ahead, the Foundation will no longer be providing annual grants to military and veterans charities. The Rumsfelds have been pleased to donate more than $6.5 million over the years to a number of top military charity partners. The Foundation feels privileged to have worked hand-in-hand with these outstanding organizations in providing valuable assistance to our nation’s service members and their families.

“As we head into 2022, we are particularly excited to turn the Foundation’s full attention to further developing and engaging these networks…We thank you for joining us in honoring our remarkable founder and for your continued interest in our efforts,” Clarke concluded in her welcoming message.

The Foundation is grateful to the more than 140 donors who have contributed to the its efforts since 2007. To make a charitable contribution to the Rumsfeld Foundation, click here.
