Giving Tuesday - Announcing 2020 Military and Veterans Grants

Honoring America’s Military and Veteran Community this Giving Tuesday

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C. — Joining millions around the world in celebrating the global generosity movement this Giving Tuesday, the Foundation is pleased to report on its annual military and veterans grants. We are delighted to announce that in 2020 the Rumsfeld Foundation and Rumsfeld Family Fund granted over a quarter of a million dollars to military charities assisting active duty troops, veterans, the wounded, their families and the families of the fallen.

In determining this year's grants, totaling over $270,000, the Foundation selected a number of exceptional organizations whose work falls within its key focus areas and aligns with its overarching mission to honor and empower the men and women of the U.S. military and veteran community and their families, who represent some of the nation's finest models of character and service.  While providing a variety of programs and assistance, the Foundation’s grantees commonly appreciate the valuable role that returning veterans can play as assets and leaders in their communities and work to help veterans leverage their strengths and experience as they transition to civilian life.

As our nation’s military members continue to be called upon in service around the world, we remain committed to supporting impactful organizations dedicated to assisting and empowering America’s military and veteran community. We have been impressed by the innovative pivots that our 2020 grantees have made in light of this year's challenges and are heartened by their resiliency and commitment to their communities served. It is our privilege to work with these terrific organizations and we hope you will also consider their efforts in this season of giving,” said Sarah Tonucci, Executive Director.

All of Donald Rumsfeld's profits from the sales of his memoir, Known and Unknown, and the Churchill Solitaire app continue to go toward the Foundation’s military charity partners.

Since its establishment in 2007, the Rumsfeld Foundation has provided grants totaling over $6.1 million to organizations supporting U.S. service members, veterans and their families. Learn more about the Foundation’s grantees here: Partners Page.
