Giving Back to our Nation’s Military and Veteran Community
.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, D.C. — The Rumsfeld Foundation is pleased to announce its annual grants to military and veterans organizations. This year the Foundation, in partnership with the Rumsfeld Family Fund, contributed over a quarter of a million dollars to non-profits supporting service members, veterans and their families.
“As we reflect on the continued difficulties and uncertainty of the past year, we are grateful for the steadfast dedication of the military and veterans charities with which we partner. Their efforts have played an important role in helping America’s military community remain resilient amidst the evolving challenges faced, and we are honored to be supportive of their valuable impact,” said Sarah Tonucci, Executive Director.
This year 13 outstanding organizations will receive over $285,000 in grants. Recipients administer programs falling within the Foundation's key grant focus areas and work to inspire and provide beneficial opportunities for members of the U.S. military and veteran community.
Grantee organizations help service members and their families thrive and empower returning veterans during their transition to civilian life, as well as align with the Foundation’s belief that our nation’s troops and veterans are valuable assets to be leveraged as leaders in their broader communities.
In light of the recent events in Afghanistan and in honor of Secretary Rumsfeld’s deep appreciation for all who have served there, $100,000 of this year’s grants from the Rumsfeld Family Fund specifically benefit organizations that are working to support the resettlement of evacuated Afghans, many of whom risked their lives serving alongside U.S. troops and diplomats.
Since the Foundation’s establishment in 2007, the Rumsfelds have provided grants totaling over $6.5 million to organizations supporting U.S. service members, veterans and their families. Learn more about the Foundation’s grantees in recent years here: Partners Page.
A portion of the profits from the sales of Known and Unknown and the Churchill Solitaire app continue to go toward the Foundation’s military charity partners.
