Washington, D.C. - The Rumsfeld Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of its 2023-24 Graduate Fellows.
This year the Foundation selected 14 scholars who aspire to careers in public service to receive a combined $212,507 in grant awards in support of their advanced studies. Entering its fifteenth academic year, the Graduate Fellowship Program now includes an impressive network of 204 current Fellows and alumni, as well as 23 distinguished program Advisers located at universities nationwide.
Nominated for their demonstrated leadership potential, moral character and academic and civic achievements, the 2023-24 Graduate Fellows include rising leaders with diverse backgrounds and experiences. This year’s Fellows will be pursuing studies at universities across the country in fields from international affairs and history to cybersecurity and politics and include both master’s and doctoral students.
Some of the already impressive roles and accomplishments of the 2023-24 Fellows include:
- Intelligence Analyst at the FBI
- Intern at the U.S. Department of State
- Former Undergraduate Fellow at the Clements Center for National Security
- Former U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman
- Graduate Assistant at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs
- Founder of the John Quincy Adams Society chapter at William & Mary
- Recipient of Missouri State University’s Citizen Scholar Award and Ronald Reagan Leadership Award
- Former Guest Lecturer at Brigham Young University
- Former Intern at U.S. Space Force
- Recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation for Contribution to the USAID Bureau for Resilience and Food Security
- President of the Space Law Society at Indiana University
- Former Senior Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves
- Director of the Forward Defense Program at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security
- Former U.S. House of Representatives Intern
Along with the financial support awarded, the Foundation is pleased to offer additional opportunities for these service-oriented professionals by hosting various events and providing regular communications throughout the year to facilitate further network engagement.
One 2023-24 Fellow noted, “The Graduate Fellowship is a vehicle that allows lessons, knowledge and passions to be passed between generations of committed Americans and public servants…I will not only benefit from the lessons that I am able to learn from others. I will also benefit from the ability to pay the lessons that I will learn throughout my career forward to those who come after me.”
Over 75% of alumni of the Graduate Fellowship Program are currently serving in public service or policy fields, including in a wide variety of capacities in the Departments of Defense, State and Treasury, the U.S. military, U.S. Congress, state and local government, policy and research centers, academia and more.
